Upon settling in Fonthill from Vancouver Island 10 years ago, Ruth Nixon opened The Whisk & Ladle on December 1, 2006. It was her plan to open a culinary haven where she could create delicious prepared meals to accommodate the busy lifestyle of her customers, provide fun and interactive cooking classes for food enthusiasts, produce culinary feasts for catered events and open a Niagara inspired gourmet cafe with a unique and delightful menu.

In 2004 Ruth attended the prestigious Stratford Chefs School and graduated with honours in June of 2006. Previous to her training in Stratford she worked for 15 years at various restaurants including: The Buttery, The Stone Road Grille, NOTL and Missoula’s River Café & Grille in BC.

“Working with food and constantly striving to create dishes which are the best that they can possibly be has been my passion for as long as I have known. It is my pleasure to create meals of the highest quality and taste for my family, friends and clients. I believe that food should be prepared honestly, with respect for the environment and seasons in order to achieve superior taste. I look forward to cooking with or for you in the very near future!”
